"Up the Duff" by Kaz Cooke.
I found this book very informative and funny, detailing the 40 weeks of pregnancy in diary style. I often found myself sneaking a peek at the weeks to come. It includes some humorous cartoons. Kaz is a popular Australian author and cartoonist.
She has also written a follow up book called "Kidwrangling: the Real Guide to Caring for Babies, Toddlers and Preschoolers.
"Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" by Tracy Hogg with Belinda Blau
Focuses on the EASY routine for helping babies eat and sleep well. EASY stands for; E - Eat, A- Activity, S- Sleep, Y- You followed in that order.
This routine aims to help babies self settle and as a result get to sleep easier.
According to the authors babies can be divided into 5 types; Angel, Textbook, Touchy, Spirtied or Grumpy and from personal experience I have met babies who seem to fall into each catergory. Knowing which type of baby you have will make it easier to cater to their needs.
It is an interesting read and I am looking forward to applying the routines myself with my own baby.
It's a good idea to get the book that goes along with it if you can. We got ours (a mother's and father's guide) through Birthcare in Auckland who are running the ante-natal classes. They were $25 and seem worth it.
